Two honest caveats. First: currencies are not equal — a £1.99 plan is not cheaper than a $1.95 plan, so the ordering above is per currency, not a strict global ranking. Second: several of these prices are intro promos — the listed monthly price on the provider site, which for shared hosting is often the first-term price. The same 10-year logic we apply to domains applies here: compare the renewal, not the banner.
Cheapest is also not best value. A $2.88 VPS with 4 GB RAM beats a $2.50 VPS with 0.5 GB for almost any real workload — the spec sheet matters more than the price tag.
