apartmentAbout SiteGround

SiteGround is a premium managed-hosting brand founded in 2004 and still independently owned — it is not part of Newfold Digital/EIG, which owns several of its direct competitors. Its entire platform runs on Google Cloud across 11 data centers, with an in-house control panel (Site Tools) instead of cPanel, an in-house CDN and its own caching stack. The product line is deliberately narrow: three shared plans (sold as web, WordPress, WooCommerce and reseller hosting), four managed cloud plans, a site builder, an email-marketing SaaS and domain registration. There is no VPS, no dedicated server and no GPU line — SiteGround competes on managed quality, not on raw hardware per dollar.

About SiteGround

SiteGround is a global web hosting and digital services company founded in 2004 by a group of university friends who wanted to create a faster, more secure, and customer-focused hosting experience. More than two decades later, SiteGround has evolved from a traditional hosting provider into an all-in-one platform for building, managing, and growing an online business. The company remains privately owned and independently operated.

Today, SiteGround powers more than 3 million domains** and has a team of **500+ experts** serving customers worldwide. Its infrastructure spans **11 data centers across 8 countries and 4 continents, supported by approximately **170 CDN locations** and 24/7 customer support. SiteGround reports a 99.9% uptime commitment for its hosting services.

Hosting & Infrastructure

SiteGround provides a broad range of hosting solutions, including Web Hosting, WordPress Hosting, WooCommerce Hosting, Cloud Hosting, Reseller Hosting, and hosting solutions for agencies. Its cloud infrastructure is built on Google Cloud and combines Google's global infrastructure with SiteGround's proprietary performance, security, and management technologies.

Cloud Hosting provides dedicated resources, managed infrastructure, automatic backups, scalability, and enterprise-oriented features, making it suitable for growing websites, ecommerce businesses, applications, and agencies.

Website & Ecommerce Platform

SiteGround has expanded beyond hosting with its own Website Builder and Ecommerce platform. Businesses can create websites using a visual drag-and-drop interface without requiring advanced coding skills. Its ecommerce tools allow businesses to build and manage online stores, products, payments, discounts, reviews, analytics, and marketing integrations from the same ecosystem.

The platform also includes domain registration, professional email, email marketing, WordPress tools, Coderick AI, and AI Studio, allowing customers to consolidate many of the services normally purchased from separate providers.

AI & Innovation

AI is becoming an important part of SiteGround's product ecosystem. Coderick AI focuses on AI-assisted website and application creation, while AI Studio provides access to AI models and specialized agents designed to help users with development and business tasks.

This reflects SiteGround's broader strategy of moving from infrastructure provider to a complete digital growth platform. In 2026, the company officially positioned itself as an **all-in-one platform for online success**, combining website creation, hosting, ecommerce, email marketing, AI tools, and business infrastructure.

Agency & Collaboration Tools

SiteGround also caters to freelancers, developers, and agencies managing multiple websites. Collaboration features allow teams to work on websites with individual logins and controlled access, while reseller and agency solutions provide tools for managing multiple clients and websites from a centralized environment.

Global Infrastructure

SiteGround's current infrastructure includes locations such as Virginia, Iowa, Texas, California, London, Madrid, Eemshaven, Frankfurt, Paris, Sydney, and Singapore. Its CDN extends the platform's global reach and is designed to improve website performance for visitors in different regions.

Security, Performance & Reliability

Security and performance are central to SiteGround's hosting platform. The company develops many of its performance and security technologies in-house and combines them with Google Cloud infrastructure. Features across its hosting ecosystem include managed security, SSL, backups, caching, CDN services, monitoring, and automated optimization.

SiteGround also emphasizes sustainability through its use of Google Cloud infrastructure and its LEED Gold-certified headquarters in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Why SiteGround?

The key difference between SiteGround and a traditional hosting company is the breadth of its ecosystem. Instead of providing only server space, SiteGround aims to give small businesses, entrepreneurs, developers, and agencies the tools required to build, launch, manage, market, and scale an online presence from one platform.

Its ecosystem combines:

Hosting → Domains → Website Builder → WordPress → Ecommerce → Email → Email Marketing → AI → Collaboration → Cloud Infrastructure

This makes SiteGround particularly attractive to businesses that want to reduce the number of separate technology providers they need to manage while retaining access to scalable hosting and professional tools.

In short, SiteGround has evolved from a web hosting company into a comprehensive online-business platform, combining managed infrastructure, website creation, ecommerce, marketing, collaboration, and AI under one roof.

thumb_downCons

removeRenewal shock is the biggest one: StartUp goes $3.99 → $17.99, GrowBig $6.69 → $29.99, GoGeek $10.69 → $44.99 per month
removePromo prices require 12 months prepaid — there is no cheap monthly entry
removeStartUp hosts one website only; multi-site owners have to start at GrowBig
removeNo VPS, no dedicated servers, no GPU — if you need root on your own hardware, SiteGround is not in that market
removeManaged cloud starts at $100/month, far above unmanaged cloud VPS of comparable specs
removeStorefront prices differ by region: the same plan is $2.99 on the US storefront and $3.99 on the international one
removeNot an ICANN-accredited registrar — domains are resold through a third-party registrar

auto_awesomeDohoHub verdict

SiteGround is a premium managed host, and the price tells you so — but only from the second year. The first term is genuinely cheap ($3.99–$10.69/mo), and the renewal is where the real cost sits ($17.99–$44.99/mo), so judge it on the renewal price, not the headline. What you buy for that is Google Cloud infrastructure, an in-house panel and caching stack, free CDN and SSL, daily backups and 24/7 chat/phone/ticket support — a package that is hard to assemble from cheaper hosts. It suits WordPress and WooCommerce owners who want the platform managed and are willing to pay for support quality. It is the wrong pick if you want root access, the lowest long-term price, or a VPS/dedicated line — SiteGround sells none of those.

quizFrequently asked questions
Why is the renewal price so much higher than the advertised one?expand_more
The advertised $3.99 / $6.69 / $10.69 are introductory rates for the first 12-month term, prepaid. From month 13 the plans bill at $17.99 / $29.99 / $44.99 per month. SiteGround states this on the plan card itself ("Renews at ... Prepaid for 12 months"). Budget for the renewal, because that is the price you will pay for most of the time you stay.
Are the WordPress, WooCommerce and reseller plans different from the shared ones?expand_more
No. All four pages sell the same three plans — StartUp, GrowBig and GoGeek — at the same prices, with the same storage and the same renewal rates. The structured data on SiteGround's own pages lists identical offers. What changes is the software preinstalled and the tooling emphasised: WordPress with SG Optimizer and staging, WooCommerce with a store preinstalled, reseller with white-label Site Tools and client access.
Does SiteGround sell VPS or dedicated servers?expand_more
No. The line-up is three shared plans and four managed cloud plans. The cloud plans have fixed CPU, RAM and SSD and are fully managed — there is no root access and no unmanaged tier. If you need your own machine, SiteGround is not in that market.
Is SiteGround an ICANN-accredited registrar?expand_more
No. SiteGround does not appear in the IANA registrar list, and its own privacy policy describes the company as acting "as resellers of products and/or services of our contractors (e.g. domain name registrars)". Domains bought at SiteGround are registered through a third-party accredited registrar. Domain privacy is included free for 12 months.
Why do I sometimes see a different price on siteground.com than the one listed here?expand_more
Because SiteGround prices its shared plans by your IP address. We measured it: the same page, world.siteground.com/web-hosting.htm, returned $3.99 / $6.69 / $10.69 per month to one address and $2.99 / $4.99 / $7.99 to another, five requests each, stable within each address. Renewal prices, storage, the cloud plans, the Website Builder, Email Marketing and all domain prices were identical from both. DohoHub lists what its own price checker sees on the international storefront, so the introductory price you are offered may be lower — the renewal price, which is what you pay from month 13, is the same either way.
What is included for free with a hosting plan?expand_more
Let's Encrypt SSL with automatic renewal, SiteGround's in-house CDN, daily backups with 30-day retention, unlimited email accounts on your domain, unlimited traffic, the Site Tools control panel, free WordPress installation and free site migration. A domain name is not included — it is bought separately.
How is the infrastructure built?expand_more
The whole platform runs on Google Cloud, across 11 data centers: Council Bluffs, Ashburn, Dallas and Los Angeles in the USA; London, Eemshaven, Frankfurt, Madrid and Paris in Europe; Singapore; and Sydney. The CDN adds 170+ edge locations. You choose the data center at signup and everything in that account lives there.
Can I pay monthly instead of prepaying a year?expand_more
Shared plans can be bought on shorter terms, but the promotional price shown on the site is tied to the 12-month prepaid term — a monthly term costs more. The four cloud plans are billed monthly by default with no prepay requirement.
